Arts and Crafts Family Fun
A trip to the store could be the entertainment for the next rainy day. There are some great ways to use fingernail polish or magic markers to play for hours especially for the kids. Just add some alcohol to the list and it changes from drawing to painting. I was surprised to find several new ideas that are useful for decoration and keep the kids active while enhancing their creativity at the same time.
When actual paint and art supplies can be expensive these are things that almost everyone has that usually just get overlooked until they are ready to be disposed of. Old fingernail polish is great for dab painting. Just apply a few drops to some kind of around the house items then use a Qtip dipped in alcohol to spread it out in any pattern that you find appealing. The end result may be your next creative decor or at least a way to entertain the children and yourself. Impressions are also very unique and a variety of things can be made useful to make new designs.Ordinary outdoor items can be used as well. Try leaves or sticks and even different types of rocks for some unique patterns. Some of these are great substitutes for a paint brush.
The thing about magic markers is it makes lines that can be changed into really nice looking creative art. Using the Qtip dipped in alcohol to spread the ink into shapes or just swirls. The best way is to use more than one color so where the colors meet the mixture makes its own blend that highlights the art. Any of these can be applied to almost any object that you want to accent or make old stuff more appealing. Flower pots, yard decor items or or even home decor items can be highlighted and be a useful artistic complement to any home.
